JELLYBEANS (aka Belinda Roals)
Belinda has been involved in Youth Theatre since her debut as a bunny rabbit in 1982. Her interest in clowning started in her early teens. When a friend asked her to do some facepainting for him, Rainbows and Jellybeans was born.
Through her long time involvement in Newcastle's Young People's Theatre she has gained experience in all areas of the performing arts and performed in more then 60 productions.
More recently she has turned to direction and scriptwriting.
Directorial credits include "Bugsy Malone.", "Living with Lady McBeth", John
Marsden's "So Much To Tell You", "Animal Farm", "The Incredible Vanishing" and
"The Children's Hour." Belinda's scripts include "Cinderella." "The Pied Piper"
and "She was Obviously Asking for It"
An accomplished Director/Playwright she has received over a dozen CONDA nominations, the Frank Lind Award and Arthur Boswell Certificate both for outstanding contributions to the theatre. Belinda is also a mask/make-up artist and theatrical designer. In 2002 she received a CONDA award for her make-up designs for "The Wiz" with Metropolitian players. She teaches for Young People's Theatre and is employed as a technician at Newcastle's Civic Theatre.
Belinda recently played the title role in "The Woman Who Lived in a Shoe" and received a CONDA nomination for her portrayal of Evilene, the wicked witch in Metropolitan Players "The Wiz".
